Cómo mejorar la experiencia del usuario final al utilizar aplicaciones en la nube

01 de julio de 2015

All of the convenience, cost savings, and flexibility of using the cloud isn't worth it if the result is alienating end users by providing an inferior end user experience. The user experience is critically important, as it relates directly back to the perception and opinion they hold about your brand. Slow performance, error messages, and trouble figuring out how to navigate the page are just some of the issues that can plague end user experience. Here's how to monitor end user experience and make sure it's everything you want it to be for your users.

You Can Choose a Cloud Infrastructure That is Aware of User Devices

The first challenge is accommodating such a wide range of user devices, all with differing interfaces, displays, and functionality.

One of the most critical factors in end user experience is being able to provide a consistent, relevant, and streamlined experience to users across devices. This means empowering your cloud infrastructure with the ability to detect what device a particular user is using to access the system, understand what capabilities that device has, and deliver an experience optimized for that device. Along with detection and recognition, you can use techniques like responsive web design to assure that the end user experience is tailored for the device.

When discussing the various experiences delivered to different devices with your programmers and/or cloud vendors, be sure that you take into account the various platforms (such as Android versus Apple versus Windows, etc.), as each of these users expect different things from their interfaces. You'll also need to be sure that your developers are optimizing for all of the devices between the desktop computer and smartphones, including various tablets, notebooks, laptops, etc., as screen sizes, video and audio capabilities, and input methods (touchscreen, keyboard with mouse, or a combination) vary greatly among these devices.

Select the Right Cloud Infrastructure Application Management

Application monitoring and management tools have historically been limited to tools that simply show the availability of the system, but do nothing toward informing you how the users are actually experiencing your cloud application. Some tools cannot show you when the cloud is delivering slow response to the user or popping up error messages, or giving them a hard time with navigation.

Next is a matter of selecting the right monitoring and management solution.

There are newer tools available that will monitor and manage your end user experience, so discuss these options with your developers. Bear in mind that each of these options has pros and cons. First, you can opt for scripted synthetic agents, which are installed on a PC within your environment. The PC essentially mimics a user and monitors the experience that user would have on your cloud application.

The second option is passive network appliances, which attach to the appliance used for load balancing your own servers. This device monitors the traffic coming into and going out of your servers to detect any potential issues that could affect your end user experience. The third option is passive client agents. These are installed directly on the users' device and monitor the experience of that particular user on that specific device. Your developers and/or cloud service vendors should be able to direct you to the network monitoring solution that is right for your cloud applications.
